SolarFOREST

SolarFOREST Workshop 2026

Our next SolarFOREST Workshop will be held from March 1-4, 2026.

You are welcome to participate in the 19th workshop on solar cells and technologies! SolarFOREST was formerly known as SiliconFOREST and takes place since 2005. It was well known for a high-quality program and an excellent atmosphere.

We are pleased to announce that the scope of our workshop is expanding beyond silicon, and we have decided to change the name to SolarFOREST.

So, if you are a master’s student, PhD or PostDoc focusing on solar cell development and characterization, please have a closer look at our announcement:

About the Workshop

Since 2005, Master's students, PhD candidates, and PostDocs from across Germany (and now also from Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Belgium) have been meeting annually in the Black Forest to discuss advancements in silicon photovoltaics. A look at our workshop history shows that over the past 15 years, we’ve covered all key topics, from PERC cells to passivating contacts, or from boron-oxygen defects to LeTID. Our popular evening lectures — including presentations by Peter Würfel, Ron Sinton, Andres Cuevas, Pietro Altermatt, Christophe Ballif, and others — have given the program a special touch.

In a relaxed atmosphere, however, it’s not just the talks that matter; scientific and personal exchanges also play a major role!

Starting from 2026, the Workshop will be held in English. The previous workshops were held in German.
